Hi fashionistas! So we have decided to go on a romantic trip to France - Paris. Weather has been really nice and my boyfriend has never been there before so off we went. Before we even went to our hotel it was time to stop by the roof terrace of Galleries Lafayette so I could show my bf the amazing view where you don't have to fight the crowd to see the beauty of Paris. I told him that we can easily go to the Eiffel however with all the waiting lines etc.it's not even worth it. I have already been and frankly I was disappointed. Even when you come to the top you can barely see anything as there is so much tourists fighting to see the Paris from above.
Hotel Le Marquis
However by saying that of course I would at least take him to see the Eiffel even though we wouldn't go up. So the best way to take the picture with Eiffel Tower in the back is Place du Trocadéro.
We had the most amazing warm sunny day so it was even better. My bf couldn't believe how beautiful Paris actually is. I was glad he felt this way. By that time we got hungry and as we are major foodies we have decided to find a good restaurant near by our hotel. We went to Villa Verdi
(see my experience below) and loved it. So we wanted to see the famous Louvre Museum next however after the delicious meal it was time for a coffee break right next to the museum on the square and it was really nice. There was a trumpet band playing on the square and after finishing our coffees we went there and even danced to their music a bit, was so funny and nice. Straight after it was time for Louvre - omg we've taken soooo many pictures haha. Amazing place. Was thinking about how they have filmed the Da Vinci Code with Tom Hanks there.. After that it was time to go to the hotel to dress up and go to dinner (see the bad experience paragraph below). Next day we woke up and I really wanted a typical French breakfast although I am always dieting a bit especially now when leaving to Mexico but a chocolate croissant with orange juice was a must! And I can honestly say it was one of the best ones I ever had. Yum! Worth all of the calories hahaha! After that we saw the amazing Pont Alexandre bridge - lovely! We have walked a lot in Paris and because of it we saw loads however all of the walking has made us hungry - surprise, surprise (as we always eat). Once again I have googled the recommended places and Cafe De Flore came up. When I saw the picture and reviews we had to go! (experience written below under Rant). It was time to walk off the food and go to see the famous Champs
and ufff my heart was hurting when walking by all of the Gucci, LV, Channel stores hahah. Want to have it all!!! Slowely we had realised that our lovely romantic getaway is coming to an end so we have called a cab and off we went. HOTEL:
Our hotel was Hotel Le Marquis
located near Eiffel Tower. I have to mention that we were really satisfied with the customer service. The staff was really friendly and actually went that extra mile for our romantic getaway so there was a bottle of Champagne waiting for us in the room - as compliments of the hotel management. We also had the cutest room with a balcony with great view. Good FOOD:
Ok so back to food - when searching something close by the hotel we wanted to find a proper French restaurant however the closest restaurant that had amazing ratings was Villa Verdi
and as people were raging of how good the food is we HAD to give it a go. M had a steak and myself - as I don't eat meat - I had the big shrimps ( called Gamberoni alla Livornese ) and they were freaking amazing. The sauce was soooo good and the shrimp meat so tasty it was insane. My bf said his steak was one of the top 5 he ever had. We also tasted their red wine as we are huge fans of Chianti red wine and of course it did not disappoint. I have rated them 5* on Tripadvisor and every €€€ spent there was well spent. After our coffee break near Louvre and visit to the museum we went back to the hotel and got ready for dinner. I had reserved a table in Chez Julien restaurant. The restaurant had good food reviews so we wanted to try a typical French restaurant and have a romantic evening. Well it only went downhill from there unfortunately...(see description below in Rant paragraph) Amazing experience in Cafe de Flore:
Speaking of good service we were really surprised when we ate at the Cafe de Flore
. We queued to get the outside table and we were served by amazing gentleman who was really kind. The food was so good, the wine was amazing and overall experience was worth the money. I really recommend it. And cafe by itself looks so good. A must see! Rant - Bad Restaurant experience in Chez Julien:
I usually don't rant and rather give good reviews than bad however the experience in Chez Julien restaurant was so bad that they have probably received the worst rating from me. If this would be our first stop in Paris I would think that all French people treat their customers poorly as this is the feeling we received in this restaurant. When arrived they tried to squish us in the tiniest table by the pillar so close to another table that we would probably fight with elbows when trying to eat so we have requested another table. When moved they have sat us down by the entrance and the doors were wide open (bear in mind that it was freezing at night) and they refused to close them. The menus were in French and would be even acceptable if the waitress would give a damn and told us what they offer instead I had to google translate the freaking menu just to know what to eat! When ordered the starter we have waited for over an hour for it and by that time of being cold and hungry we almost wanted to leave. After hour and half our main courses arrived - food was good however with everything that happened it did not compensate. When we had finished with the food I felt so unwelcome that I asked for our bottle to be corked so we could leave. And also if we could get any type of bags so we don't walk around Paris with bottle in our hands and she said "we don't do takeaways so we can't offer a bag". I thought after the crappy service you could go an extra mile. We did not leave any tips and we didn't even say goodbye after paying. And as this restaurant was not cheap I almost felt sorry for not leaving at the beginning. We went to the hotel straight after. Time to sleep and rest. Ahh it was bitter-sweet. Happy to go to London but sad to leave Paris. We shall meet again Paris and until then Au Revoir.
